lfw fall / winter 2012 : mary katrantzou
Given how much is going on in every single piece of Mary Katrantzou creations, zooming in on the details is absolutely necessary. With her stellar Spring/Summer 2012 showing and sell-out TopShop collection, everyone was waiting to see how she will top all that in Fall/Winter 2012. Honsetly? I think she nailed it – actually, that is a massive under-statement. There are the mind-blowing prints (inspired by the content of her desk drawer), the beautiful colours and the wonderful shapes. Of the three, I will have to pick the third as my favourite: the ruffles, whether on a baby-doll or taking the form of a dramatic, billowing tail, is quite simply, pretty as hell. This more is more approach can work.
